Darrell McCune is an amazing music instructor and coach. His excitement and joy for music as well as his abilities are apparent! As a child and a teenager, I took both piano and voice lessons from Darrell. He cultivated my love for music of all kinds while helping me grow my abilities. Darrell individualized my music choices by considering my personal wants, selected pieces that showcased my strengths, while fine-tuning areas for improvement. Darrell’s patience and love of music helped this middle-aged man with no musical training in my journey to learn how to sing and play piano. Darrell’s teaching style is to bring out the best in his students, particularly when a student knows what they want to sing or play, but don’t know how to get there. He has a unique set of skills and abilities to help students of all ages in their musical journey.
As an adult, I look back at my music lessons with Mr. McCune as one of the greatest gifts my parents gave me. I am not “musically inclined”, but Mr. McCune has an incredible talent for tailoring his lessons to each individual–even in a group setting! Every minute spent was meaningful, and I progressed with his feedback and guidance.
